Welcome to Whidbey’s Nonprofit Directory

This directory is a free community resource created by the Whidbey Community Foundation to connect residents and donors with the many organizations serving our island. Inclusion does not imply endorsement or funding, and not all organizations listed are WCF grantees. We strive to keep information current and accurate. Downtown Oak Harbor is blessed with the natural beauty surrounding us. The panoramic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic & Cascade Mountains, our namesake Garry Oak trees and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets are sites you can not miss.

Oak Harbor Main Street Association (OHMSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.  We were designated as a Washington State Main Street Community in 2016. As a nonprofit program we are funded through memberships, sponsorships, grants, event income, donations and the Main Street Tax Incentive Program.
Our team, consisting mostly of volunteers plus our Executive Director and Marketing Coordinator, is proud of the progress that has happened over just a few short years. Community is the key to our success.
OHMSA uses Washington Main Street Four Point Approach to guide our work. Our four committees Design, Outreach, Economic Vitality and Promotions each work toward fulfilling the mission is to actively promotes a vibrant, historic waterfront community.

History

Founded in 2016

Oak Harbor Main Street Association (OHMSA) formed when a small group of like-minded individuals came together with the vision to make our historic downtown a place where the community and tourist alike want to come and explore, shop, and dine. The WA Main Street Program was designed to help revitalize historic downtown districts and we are happy to be one of 36 WA Main Street Communities.

OHMSA, founded in 2016, is working on projects that beautify the downtown. We have developed events to draw visitors to downtown.

Since our historic downtown is not visible from the highway that passes through town. One of the goals and problems is to figure out a way to get people to turn off the highway and discover what our historic downtown has to offer.

Since OHMSA was established, we have higher occupancy rate and more unique shops. We are developing a marketing plan to help advertise businesses in the district and therefore help increase the bottom line for our small mom and pop businesses.
