LMSA is a non-profit organization that focuses on economic revitalization and historic preservation in Langley, WA. Formed in 2010 and designated as a non-profit organization in June of 2012, we strive to preserve and sustain the small historic downtown character of Langley. LMSA is committed to historic preservation, lessening the burden on city government, and collaboration with like minded entities. Our framework is based on the approach of the Washington State Main Street Program under the Department of Archeology and Historic Preservation and Main Street America.
In the heart of Langley, where the saltwater breeze meets the brick-paved sidewalks, there is a visible pulse to the town that doesn’t just happen by accident. It’s the result of a quiet, flourishing partnership between Langley Main Street and the City of Langley in a collaboration that treats the downtown landscape as the community’s shared living room.
While the city provides the canvas, LMSA provides the color. This partnership has transformed functional spaces into local landmarks:
The Bump-Out Gardens: What could have been mere traffic calming measures are now vibrant micro-gardens that soften the streetscape.
Civic Greenery: From the lush surrounds of City Hall to the welcoming entryway of our city-owned Library, the greenery ensures our public institutions feel like home.
Downtown Parks: These curated spaces offer a sanctuary for both locals and visitors to pause and soak in the "Village by the Sea."
The "Tuesday Garden Gang"
The true magic, however, happens in the dirt. In 2025, the Tuesday Garden Gang, a dedicated crew of local volunteers, poured their hearts into the soil. They donated a staggering 730 hours of service, proving that a beautiful town is built on the sweat equity of those who love it.
Whether it’s the lush hanging flowering baskets that sway above the business district or the custom-potted arrangements lining the storefronts, every petal is a testament to what happens when a community decides to invest in its own charm.
Langley, Washington 98260
LMSA was formally established in 2010. It was created by local residents and business owners who wanted a structured way to manage the town’s growth while preserving its "Village by the Sea" identity.
In June 2012, our organization reached a major milestone by being designated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. This allowed us to tap into the Washington State Main Street Program, which provides tax incentives for donors and a proven "Main Street Approach" to economic revitalization.
