Welcome to Whidbey’s Nonprofit Directory

This directory is a free community resource created by the Whidbey Community Foundation to connect residents and donors with the many organizations serving our island. Inclusion does not imply endorsement or funding, and not all organizations listed are WCF grantees. We strive to keep information current and accurate. Connection, Camaraderie, and Healing Through Music

Our mission is to serve Veterans through free guitar lessons, jam sessions, and community experiences that foster healing, confidence, and emotional wellbeing in partnership with local allies.

WIVGA currently serves veterans on Whidbey Island. As support grows, we hope to expand our reach and bring music, community, and purpose to more veterans.

History

Founded in 2026

Whidbey Island Veterans Guitar Alliance grew out of a strong and proud local chapter of the national Guitars for Vets program. When that national program was no longer active in our area, our local volunteers, instructors, students, and supporters did not want to lose the community, momentum, and mission that had already been built here on Whidbey Island.

Along with other former chapters in similar situations, we chose to form an independent nonprofit so we could continue serving veterans locally through music, connection, and community.

Creating WIVGA allows us to keep resources close to home. Funds raised in our community are used to purchase guitars, supplies, and lesson materials for veterans in our area. We are also able to work with local partners and supporters to assemble guitar kits for our graduates and respond more directly to the needs of Whidbey Island veterans.

Today, WIVGA continues the heart of the original mission while building something rooted deeply in our own community. We are proud to provide free guitar lessons, mentorship, jam sessions, meaningful connection, and guitar kits for program graduates on Whidbey Island.

Our story is one of continuity, commitment, and local care. We honored what had been built, and we chose to keep the music going.
