Whidbey Camano Land Trust

We’re Passionate about Protecting this Paradise

It’s easy to fall in love with Whidbey and Camano islands. These islands are truly magical, with spectacular vistas and landscapes including farms, wetlands, forests, prairies and marine shorelines, all providing refuges for wildlife and places for people to enjoy the outdoors.

We are the Whidbey Camano Land Trust, an independent, nationally accredited, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which has been protecting the best of these islands since 1984. During that time we have partnered with landowners and island communities to help expand county and state parks, protect natural areas and local family farms, increase trail and beach access, and protect and restore fish and wildlife habitat. We practice strategic land conservation that saves our incredible quality of life. Keeps our water and air clean. Provides outdoor spaces to enjoy nature. Protects habitat for our beloved fish and wildlife. Keeps local family farms producing safe food. Helps our local economy by attracting businesses, residents and visitors. And ensures these treasured islands remain as places of refuge.

A Land Trust of Excellence

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust is a member of the Land Trust Alliance (LTA), a national organization that works on behalf of trusts to increase the pace and quality of land conservation. In 2010, we were one of the first of the nation’s land trusts to receive national accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, a special status recognizing nonprofit excellence. We were reaccredited in 2017.

Appreciating What We Have

The Land Trust also is committed to increasing awareness of and appreciation for Whidbey and Camano islands. We accomplish this through publications, guided tours, stewardship work parties and special events. We believe that love of our islands is enhanced through positive experiences on the land, especially for younger generations. We hope you’ll become a member and join us at an upcoming Land Trust event or activity.
