We are looking for an experienced full-time Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. The Physical Therapist provides developmental evaluations for infants and toddlers, develops recommendations for target outcomes, and provides direct services and parent coaching on strategies for daily routines. You will function as a collaborative member of the early support team by providing and receiving consultation as needed.

 

Steps is a private non-profit agency established in 1985.  We provide in home therapy, education, and parent support for children 0-36 months with developmental delays in Island and San Juan Counties, and soon Anacortes, WA. The compensation range for this position is $36.13-$52.15 per hour based on the experience level and credentials of the candidate.

Physical Therapist Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate/assess all areas of development (Cognitive, Adaptive, Social Emotional, Gross and Fine Motor, and Receptive and Expressive Communication).
  • Provide direct parent/caregiver coaching services in the home or community agencies to facilitate the individual infant’s/child’s development, reinforce responsive parenting/caregiving skills, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide parents/caregivers with activities/suggestions to work on during everyday routines to help facilitate their child’s development.
  • Provide ongoing communication, including results of assessment and recommendations orally and/or in writing to family/caregivers, multi-disciplinary team members as well as other medical, educational, and social service professionals.
  • Communicate regularly with family contacts, responding on the same business day or the next scheduled workday.
  • Schedule home visits with families and maintain a list of appointments in the Outlook calendar.
  • Complete written documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and evaluation/assessments.
  • Attend agency meetings as required by Director; monthly/weekly staff meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with FERPA AND HIPPA.
  • Abide by all guidelines of the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) and Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) to ensure the child and his/her family has access to Early Intervention Services (EIS) as identified in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

 

Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

  • Degree in Physical Therapy and experience working with infants and toddlers or equivalent.
  • Valid Washington State license required to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, and HIV/AIDS training.
  • Commitment to designing and implementing services that respond to and support child/family needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate in a supportive, non-judgmental manner to families of varying cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds and use interpersonal skills to establish strong relationships.
  • Demonstrate basic computer competency.
  • Ability to work independently during home visits, scheduling, meeting timelines, etc.
  • Ability to access homes with a variety of accessibility issues including steep staircases without railing, extended distance from parking to home entrance, and uneven ground or obstacles in or outside of the home.
  • Ability to work on the floor, stoop, kneel, reach, and lift children and equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to multi-task, think critically, make informed decisions, and follow through.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to read and express oneself clearly verbally and in writing.

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Prior to employment, the successful candidate must pass a criminal background check, fingerprints, and driving record.
  • Provide proof of completion of Tdap, Varicella, MMR, Hep B, TB, COVID-19, and annual Flu vaccination.
  • Remain current in training requirements as required to maintain licensure as well as meet requirements of agency contacts with ESIT, DDA, and Insurance.
  • Upon hire, be required to provide proof that you are either 1) A U.S. citizen or 2) An immigrant whose status permits you to lawfully work in this country.
  • Must have a valid State Driver’s License, car registration, car insurance, and reliable transportation for home visits and/or meetings.
