Langley Soup Box Derby
More details coming soon!
Langley Soup Box Derby is one of our community’s most beloved (and eccentric) traditions. Part engineering feat, part costume party, and entirely Langley, this event brings together racers and families for a day of high-speed hijinks down First Street.
What is the Soup Box Derby?
Unlike a traditional soapbox derby, we trade the "soap" for "soup." Participants design and build non-motorized gravity racers and hurtle them toward the finish line. It’s a race where creativity is just as important as velocity.
Event Highlights
The Race: Watch as local daredevils navigate the hills of Langley in handmade vehicles.
The Costumes: It’s not just the cars that look good; teams go all-out with themes.
Community Spirit: Local businesses and residents line the streets to cheer on their favorite racers.
Awards: Beyond the fastest time, we hand out handmade, eclectic trophies.
The Soup Box Derby embodies the spirit of Langley. It’s about celebrating our unique local character, supporting downtown businesses, and bringing people together for a laugh. It’s a day where the only thing more "souped-up" than the cars is the energy of the crowd.
