Mental Health Program Manager

Healthy Minds Alliance Mission: Healthy Minds Alliance is a community-based approach to the mental health crisis. It utilizes evidence-based programs to train community members on how to prevent, detect, and support people with mental health conditions.  

Purpose of Position: AmeriCorps Member will serve as program manager and instructor for host site-identified evidence-based/ informed programs.

Identified Programs: AmeriCorps Members are trained as instructors in select programs as designated by the specific host site. Programs may include an evidence-based/ informed program pre-approved by Health360, such as NAMI signature and related programs.

Responsibilities include:

●      Participate in designated mental health evidence-based/ informed program instructor training (Date & Location TBD)

●      Support and conduct mental health classes, support groups, and presentations in communities

●      Outreach to the local community for course participants, as well as recruit and engage volunteers and community partners

●      Market program through press releases, social media, and informational sessions

●      Track each participant through post-evaluations and recordkeeping

●      Submit evaluations as directed by Health360 and the training entity

●      Advertise events to the public

●      Establish and foster relationships with community organizations as partners and resources

●      Serve as a resource to the helpline on an ongoing basis

●      Respect the privacy of course participants, colleagues, and others, including the responsibility to protect personal information

●      Advocate for mental health awareness and promote the NAMI Principles of Support whenever possible

●      Write grant applications to support mental health-focused activities

●      Participate in AmeriCorps large service project

●      Participate in monthly calls held nationally by Health360

●      Assist host site with ongoing mental health community initiatives and regional events

Qualifications Required:

●      Bachelor’s Degree

●      Personal transportation and the ability to commute to locations in Snohomish and Island counties.

●      Able to work evenings and weekends to conduct training and attend events, utilizing flex time.

●      Lived experience related to a mental health condition (either you are living in recovery with a mental health condition, or you have/had a loved one with a mental health condition)

●      Positive attitudes towards individuals affected by mental health conditions

●      Working technical competency, including using a computer, Microsoft Office, Google, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media, and a willingness to learn additional software applications to maintain a website and records, etc.

●      Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience Preferred:

●      Volunteer, nonprofit, and/or customer service experience

●      Teaching/facilitating/presenting expertise with youth and adults

●      Administrative experience with a non-profit

●      Familiarity with mental health subject matter

●      Enthusiasm for providing advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

Details and Benefits include:

●      Complete a 10-month service commitment, the host site supervisor will determine specific dates*

●      Full-time AmeriCorps position: 1700 service hours – 40 hours per week; 5 holidays, 2.5 personal days off

●      AmeriCorps members receive a $19,000 stipend for their service – paid biweekly = 22 checks

●      $6,895 Education Award upon completion of service commitment (1700 service hours)

*Term of service is limited to a maximum of 12 months with approval by Health360.
