The Whidbey Homeless Coalition (WHC) is dedicated to ensuring that homelessness is both a brief and infrequent occurrence in our community. We operate an overnight shelter and a transitional housing home.
The Haven, our overnight shelter operates 365 days a year, providing hot meals for dinner, on-site showers, and a meeting space for partners to offer referrals and on-site case management. Our nightly shelter consistently accommodates an average of 26 guests. We have seen significant progress in achieving positive outcomes and continue to transition individuals from our program into housing, treatment programs.
The House of Hope Shelter can accommodate up to four families, comprising five parents and seven children. This 90-day emergency shelter program includes on-site case management and advocacy to overcome barriers and secure permanent housing. We collaborate with multiple county programs to transition families into permanent housing and foster positive outcomes. Since its inception, the House of Hope program has supported over 300 guests, and we persist in delivering community, hope, and essential services to families across our island.
