Wings over Whidbey 2026
Whidbey Audubon Society's 4th Annual Bird Festival
Description
Join the celebration of birds at Whidbey Audubon Society’s 4th Annual Wings over Whidbey Bird Festival at YMCA Camp Casey, Coupeville, on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM.
This is a free event featuring expert presentations, field trips, & hands-on engagement with our Bird Specimen Collection. Local vendors, food trucks, & nonprofit booths will share our local community & a reason to stay all day. Learn from presentations in Camp Casey’s auditorium by Eric Wagner (“Seabirds as Sentinels”), Connie Sidles (“Why Bother about Birds?”), and Tom Bancroft (“Marvelous Wings: Birds of the Pacific Northwest”), and see live raptors with a presentation by Northwest Game Hawkers. Sign up here for field trips to Deception Pass, Fort Ebey State Park, Fort Casey State Park, around Camp Casey for native bees, & family-friendly birding around Camp Casey & Crockett Lake. Take the opportunity to see birds close-up with specimens from our Bird Specimen Collection & to pose questions to bird professionals Matt Klope & Connie Sidles.
On Friday, September 25th , there is a special pre-festival dinner event at the Whidbey Island Nordic Lodge near Coupeville featuring a presentation by Paul Bannick, “The Heartbeat of the Western Forest: Exploring the Lives of our Keystone Birds”. See the festival’s website for time & ticket information. Getting to know about our birds can be fun & for the entire family – come join us!
