Welcome to Whidbey’s Nonprofit Directory

This directory is a free community resource created by the Whidbey Community Foundation to connect residents and donors with the many organizations serving our island. Inclusion does not imply endorsement or funding, and not all organizations listed are WCF grantees. We strive to keep information current and accurate. We are a diverse and dedicated community of parents, teachers, staff, and board members with a passion for ensuring every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity for a high-quality early childhood education that supports their unique journey to adulthood.

Our Mission is to provide engaging and nurturing pre-school and childcare programs that are curriculum based and developmentally appropriate. Our Vision is to serve the needs of our South Whidbey families and children.

History

Founded in 1978 The South Whidbey Children’s Center was originally founded in 1978 by a small group of families in need of preschool and childcare.  In the beginning we were located in a set of offices at the Senior Center.  By 1980 the families were looking for more direction and so they convinced Barbara Demuth-Mullally (fondly known as Mully) to come aboard. Mully ran the Center until she retired in 2005. Today the Center is led by Executive Director Caitlin Voss.
