The Central Whidbey Lions Club is based in Coupeville, Washington and meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at the Tyee Hotel and Cafe. They are known as the "hands on" club because their main focus of service is the repairing, refurbishing and restoring of the historic buildings in the Ebey Reserve and building of picnic tables for the city of Coupeville wharf, benches for the Patmore dog park, Greenbank Farms walking trail and children's playground. They also furnished money for the disaster preparedness trailer for Island county. Repairs to the Pacific Rim Institute owl barn are on-going and eventually it will be used for meetings and other events. The members are multi-talented carpenters, woodworkers, electricians, and in general hard working volunteers seeking to preserve the rich history of this area.
