Not everyone that is invited to join a nonprofit board of directors has governance expertise and not every board is set up to govern! Help ensure the success of your board and learn about the promising practices of board leadership.
This session will explore the fundamentals of board governance including the purpose of the board, roles and responsibilities, practices that streamline governance, and strategies for building a diverse and engaged board.
After this training, participants will:
- Be able to articulate the purpose and essential responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors
- Understand the respective roles of the board and the executive
- Be familiar with legal and regulatory issues applicable to nonprofit boards
- Have a framework to use to recruit better board members
